

The tinned yellow tomato (“pomodoro da serbo”) is an ancient Solanaceae variety, recovered under the traditional Campania geno-plasma Conservation Project. It is cultivated in Vesuvian area, the same of Piennolo Cherry Tomato, P.D.O. (Protected Designation of Origin). Concerning the organoleptic qualities and the gastronomic handling, the yellow and the red cherry tomato are very similar: just think that Vesuvian farmers usually realize “piennoli” with yellow tomatoes too.
